Umamaheshwaram (also known as Maheshwaram and Umamaheshrum) is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva in Telangana, India.[1] It is located in the Nallamala Forest around 100 km from Hyderabad on the Hyderabad-Srisailam highway (NH7), and 4 km from the village of Rangapur, Achampet, Nagarkurnool district.

Umamaheshwaram is the northern gateway of Srisailam — one of the jyotirlingas, on a hill surrounded by high trees. Nearby hills shield the temple and the 500-metre stretch to PapaNasanam from sunlight for most of the day, maintaining a lower temperature than the surroundings throughout the year.

At a distance of 87 km from Srisailam, 14 km from Achampet town and 159 km from Hyderabad, Uma Maheswaram is famous for Uma Maheswara Temple built in 2nd century. Situated in deep Nallamalai Forests in Mahabubnagar district, the presiding deities are Mallikarjuna (Shiva) and Bhramaramba (Parvati). Uma Maheshwaram is considered as the north gateway to holy town of Srisailam. It is one of the top places to visit near Srisailam.

Uma Maheshwaram is located close to Hyderabad to Srisailam road. While driving from Hyderabad, there is a temple entrance arch in Ziarat village which is 9 km from Achampet town. From the arch, the temple is about 5 km away which can be reached by vehicles. A small walk is required for about 10 minutes from the road point to reach the temple.

ఉమ మహేశ్వర స్వామి ఆలయం అమ్రాబాద్ మండలంలోని మన్ననూర్ గ్రామానికి సమీపంలో ఉన్న సుందరమైన నల్లమల అటవీ పరిధిలో ఉంది. ఈ ఆలయం 2 వ శతాబ్దానికి చెందినది మరియు మౌర్య చంద్రగుప్త పాలనకు చెందినది. ఈ ఆలయంలో శివలింగం ఉంది, దీనికి రెండు రంగులు ఉన్నాయి – ఒక వైపు తెలుపు మరియు మరొక వైపు ఎరుపు. ఈ ఆలయంలోని దేవత సహజంగా ఏర్పడిన గుహలో కనిపించిందని నమ్ముతారు. ఈ అందమైన ఆలయంలోని కొండల నుండి నిరంతరం నీరు ప్రవహించడం, గంగా దేవత ఇక్కడ తన స్వచ్ఛతను ఇస్తున్నట్లుగా ఒక అభిప్రాయాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. ఆలయం దగ్గర భారీ ట్యాంక్ ఉంది. ఇది శ్రీశైలం యొక్క ఉత్తర ద్వారం – జ్యోతిర్లింగాలలో ఒకటి. ఇది భారీ చెట్లతో కప్పబడిన కొండ పైన ఉంది.

కొండ శ్రేణులు ఆలయాన్ని కవచం చేస్తాయి. రోజంతా సూర్యరశ్మి ఈ సాగతీతపై పడదు, తద్వారా ఏడాది పొడవునా ఉష్ణోగ్రత కంటే తక్కువ ఉష్ణోగ్రత ఉంటుంది. దీనిని పూర్ మ్యాన్స్ ఓటి అని పిలుస్తారు. పాపనసనం గర్భగుడి నుండి 200 మీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉంది, ఇక్కడ ఏడాది పొడవునా భారీ రాళ్ళ క్రింద నీరు వస్తుంది.
